Some Messages from the EENU Children

Wouldn't you welcome some messages like these to you personally from a child you have given the blessing of hope and a future through an education your sacrifices have made possible?

The Poem (Aug 2008)

Long ago, when a man talked.
A woman has to answer YES!
His directives were final.

  All daughters were like mothers.
They had to be given away soon like property.
Her sons resembled their father.
When he died they soon inherited his ways.
Poor woman!  She had to suffer.

But now a woman is no longer a slave.
To remain without a say in full.
Daughters and sons are all alike.
Mothers and fathers all flock together.
What a wonderful change God has made!

EENU – MY FRIEND (Original)

You are to me, the scent of a flower too
Magnificant to be captured.
But a smell to enjoy.
You are to me like a fire burning in my heart.
A fire that can not be put out
As its strength and size increases everyday.

You are the eyes of my soul
You know where I came from.
You are opening my gate way to future.
You know what I can become in future
You are like a mother to her baby
Your care, love and support.
You give freely
Enough to last me a life time.

You are to me like water to a dear
A thirst that you can only quench.
Your water fill me with life.
And give me a reassuring freshness.
Your love in deeply treasure in my heart
EENU long live for ever.

Former Beneficiary of EENU

Dear Fr. Robert,

I hope you are fine? I’m doing fine and really happy for the wonderful things you did for me by paying my school fees. This letter is to thank you for being such a kind, loving and caring person.

Fr. Robert, now all I need is to work hard and eventually achieve what I want to become - a journalist. Although right now, I have a great challenge of continuing with my college education, I promise you I will not let you down. I had begun my college education but had to drop out due to lack of tuition but still I am determined and hopeful. I know God will help me find a way out just as He did through you and EENU. So allow me once again to thank you so very much and may the Almighty God reward you for being such a kind priest.

Yours Faithfully,

Susan Awachango

FOOT PRINT (Original)

Many people, will walk in and out of your life
But true friends live foot prints in your heart.
Mum, from the moment you adopted me
You Inspired me with hope
Your support yields a lot.
Your care, love which you gave freely!
Enough to last me life time.

You are more than a hero
Your heart full of love fills me with life.
You are to me a gift of friend
Deeply treasured.
Your foot prints will always remain in my heart.
You are a Queen Mother!

TITLE: WHAT WILL I DO!

Please tell me people
Tell me mother
Tell me brothers
Oh! Come on grandmother
At birth I was given a book of life.
The pages are predetermined.
But these pages are blank.
When I was a child you wrote the firt chapter.
But the story of life is like as you begun it.
EENU has brought me this far.
What does the world expect of me.

Tell me people
Tell me mother
Tell me brothers
Oh! Come on grandma!
So do I have to turn a new page.
Take a pen by my own hands.
And start to write my own story!
After all I live but only once!

The Life of Orphans: Life, Life, Life (Dec 2008)

  You are so sweet.
There is nothing that is as precious as you are
We need food, shelter, education as well as medical care
But who is there to provide us with?
We need parental love but who is there to show us?
    Life, Life, Life

We suffer from untold treatment, poverty, defilement, rape, and diseases.
But who is there to rescue us?
    Life, Life, Life
But who is there to rescue us?

Certainly politicians, donors, court of law and church leaders but corruption has foregone our support
And who is there to support us?
    Life, Life, Life

We wonder when our parents will be back from their unknown journey and we wonder whether our ancestors had bitter life just as we have now.
But EENU has now rescued us.
